Adam Cooke

Originally from Belfast, Adam moved to England to study Music at the University of Manchester, before being awarded a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, generously supported by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths and the Leverhulme Trust. Since graduating from the Guildhall, Adam has worked as a conductor, regularly being engaged by many of the leading ensembles in the brass and wind movements in the UK and further afield.

In 2013, Adam was runner-up in the European Conductor Competition in Oslo winning the prize voted for by the musicians, and later that year accepted an invitation to take up the role as Musical Director with the Virtuosi GUS Band.

Adam has conducted at most of the UK’s most prestigious concert halls, including the Royal Albert Hall, Symphony Hall, Royal Festival Hall and The Sage. Adam is also in his third season as the conductor of the Symphonic Winds Orchestra of North London, an associate conductor of Jaren Hornmusikkforening (Norway) and in December 2013 led the South African National Youth Wind Orchestra during their Summer course.
