Brenda Allison

Born into a banding family, Brenda started playing cornet at a young age. A change to tenor horn was followed by regular outings to compete at solo contests in the London and Home Counties area and playing in the bands which her dad conducted. Becoming a member of the NYBBGB led to many happy courses, attaining the position of principal horn.

While studying at the Birmingham Conservatoire, she played with the City of Coventry band and after graduating in 1984, she became a Music and Brass Instrumental teacher. The next few years involved periods as solo horn with William Davis, Heart of England and Desford.

After a very long break, involving 3 children, and developing her role as ‘mum’s taxi’, she is delighted to be playing again and to be part of a band with such a fine tradition.
