Stuart began playing his dad's euphonium in the back garden at the tender age of 10.
Stuart then went on to be tutored by Mr Ernest Cooper of the Jarrett's Brass Ensemble and soon discovered that the cornet was a real man's instrument. After moving through the ranks to principal cornet then went on to join the Desford B Band and that's where it all went wrong! Now 15 and playing soprano, he enjoyed many years of the Desford way of banding life!
Also whilst at the Desford organisation, he played with the fantastic Desford Youth Band and what an education that was, with tours and many TV appearances. If Carlsberg did youth bands...!
He left the Desford way of life in 1996 and went on to set up the Fosse Brass Ensemble with family and friends. Whilst playing trumpet and cornet with the ensemble he found time to play with the Ratby Band and Kibworth Band and enjoyed many memorable times with them both.
Now at 40 and playing with the famous Virtuosi GUS Band under the baton of Mr John Berryman. What a privilege.
