Virtuosi Instruments Ltd congratulates Virtuosi GUS Band for their performances at Butlins Mineworkers contest
Virtuosi Instruments England Ltd would like to congratulate the Virtuosi GUS band for their performances at the Butlins Mineworkers contest in January. A fine performance on the Saturday of the set test piece Northern Lights helped by stunning solo performances from Rebecca Crawshaw (Soprano cornet) and Alex Crutchley (Bass trombone) saw them leading in first place (with Desford a point behind) as they entered into Sunday's entertainment part of the contest.
On Sunday although judged by entertainment judge Mark Walters as the most entertaining performance of the day, the adjudicators in the box felt the performance was not enough to beat their Midland rivals Desford.
Overall the band gained first place in the set test piece, the award for most entertaining band on Sunday, and an overall 2nd place for the weekend which when added together saw the band pick up £3500 in prize money.
A great start to the year for the newly sponsored Virtuosi GUS Band. Their next concert is at the Castle Theatre Wellingborough this Saturday, while their next contest is the 2007 Midlands Area Championships where they will be looking to win their 20th championship section area title.
