A Packed Autumn

The GUS Band 2026
The GUS Band – 2026 National Finals

It’s already been a busy start to the autumn season for the GUS Band.  The run up to the National Championship Finals always require a lot of work from the players with many extra rehearsals and then there’s the contest weekend itself. The band included two new star players in its line up, Florence Derry on percussion and Carys Wood on soprano cornet and we were awarded a respectable 10th place on the Philip Sparke test piece, A Road Less Travelled By.

We travel to Rothwell this Saturday, 17th October to present a special autumn concert at the Holy Trinity church and then the following weekend the band are back in the recording studio.

It will then be three weeks of further intense rehearsals preparing for the Brass in Concert programme. The band have gained a reputation for putting on an entertaining programme at this contest over the last couple of years, penned by our musical director, Christopher Bond and speculation is ripe as to what the band’s programme will be this time. All will be revealed on Saturday 14th November at the Glass House, Gateshead…
